2025 annual review: the swiss software festival, record growth, and swiss made software + AI

In 2025, swiss made software grew by almost 200 companies. This brought the number of companies using one of the swiss made software, swiss digital services, or swiss hosting labels to over 1,500. There are also now more than 1,000 products and services listed on our platform at www.swissmadesoftware.org.

This means swiss made software has achieved record growth in 2025. In times of ongoing political uncertainty, our labels are clearly finding more resonance than ever. This is very encouraging, as digital sovereignty has been at the core of the swiss made software mission from the outset. At the same time, the success of the label is also a testament to the vibrancy of Switzerland’s software industry – and the growing domestic demand. As the numbers show, Swiss companies prefer to consult digital experts closer to home.

the first swiss software festival

We kicked off the year with the launch of the Swiss Software Festival. The response was overwhelming! With more than 30 sponsoring partners, 75 speakers, and 550 participants, this flagship event to showcase Swiss software expertise was practically sold out even before it first hit the stage. And the adventure continues: In collaboration with Women in Tech Switzerland, SWICO, BaselTech, and other renowned national and global players, swiss software festival #2 will take place on 24 June, 2026, once again at UptownBasel. See you there!

Take advantage of the member discount and treat yourselves and your colleagues to a perfect day with plentiful fresh insights and productive networking opportunities.

launching “swiss made software + ai” and “swiss digital services + ai”

In October 2025, we launched two new labels: “swiss made software + AI” and “swiss digital services + AI”. This enables our members to clearly communicate that they are using the latest technologies. At the same time, we’re creating transparency in the currently muddled AI landscape – because the range of technologies that fall under the definition of artificial intelligence is vast: Machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing – including large language models and small language models – and generative AI, AI chatbots, AI agents, and more. Software applications that use these technologies, whether as a core function or for specific areas, are constantly growing in number.

At swiss made software, we want to support Swiss companies in their use of these new technologies while staying true to the core values that underpin our “swiss made” label; namely, certifying Swiss origin. With this in mind, we have developed two new variants: the “swiss made software + AI” and “swiss digital services + AI” labels.

The aim is to create transparency for all: This additional label allows Swiss companies to declare their use of AI technology, which itself does not need to be Swiss-made. This additional designation makes it clear to buyers that the software is based on third-party technology and depends on it for core functionality. This goes hand in hand with the recommendation for users to check with the provider to find out what third-party technology or technologies are involved, and how these have been implemented.

swiss alternatives

The Swiss alternatives initiative is where swiss made software shows how Swiss software can easily match up to the offerings of the big tech multinationals. Drawing on our extensive product directory, we create lists that highlight specific Swiss-made alternatives to well-established offerings and present them on dedicated landing pages with good SEO. This makes it much easier for client companies that want to minimize their digital dependence on foreign states for strategic and regulatory reasons to find the right solution for them.

This is a new swiss made software software and provided free of charge to our level 2 members.

social media campaign: digital sovereignty

In 2025, we continued our social media campaign with the digital sovereignty theme. The campaign was viewed over 10,000 times on X and LinkedIn.

We will be running another social media campaign in 2026. Details will follow soon.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the companies participating in last year’s campaign!

“it’s about tech” and “digital experience”

In addition to the Swiss Software Festival, swiss made software held three smaller events in 2025.

Two events were held in northwestern Switzerland as part of the “It's about tech” series and with the support of the Basel city location marketing agency.

At the offices of Baloise, experts from Prodyna, ti&m, the canton of Basel city, and Baloise reported on strategies and experiences relating to the of generative AI in their organizations, also answering questions from the nearly 100 participants.

The second “It's about Tech” event focused on whether and how Swiss companies can improve their digital sovereignty – as in, their digital autonomy and independence. The event was hosted by MDPI, a pioneer in open access publishing.

Another event was organized in close collaboration with ePost. Titled “Digital Experience”, the event provided an opportunity to share practical experience in the use of digital correspondence in companies and discuss future fields of applicatio. The focus was largely on the ePost service portfolio and the question of how the Swiss software industry would be able to integrate it into its offerings via open interfaces. swiss made software plans to continue the “Digital Experience” series in 2026. Anyone interested in contributing should get in touch with Thomas Brenzikofer.

misuse of the label

Fortunately a rare occurrence, but a reality nonetheless: There are companies that use our labels without our consent. We had to take legal action against one company last year – and we were successful. One company was convicted and fined, while another responded immediately to the letter from the public prosecutor’s office, allowing them to avoid a conviction. Both companies have ceased their unlawful use of the labels.

swiss made software en français

Our website has been available in French for two years. All the information relating to our labels (swiss made software, swiss digital services, swiss hosting, swiss made software+AI, swiss digital services+AI) are available in three languages: German, English, and French. Beyond this, though – all company, product, and service descriptions can also be posted in all three languages.

The latter is particularly relevant to our Level 2 Members from Romandie and for companies with customers in French-speaking Switzerland or other French-speaking countries. French-speakers can now access all the relevant information on everything Swiss-made in their native tongue.

website figures

Our website visitor numbers have also grown over the past year: In 2025, our swissmadesoftware.org platform attracted approximately 184,000 unique visitors (+33%) and 391,000 (+18%) page views. Each Level 2 member received an average of 200 to 300 page views via their dedicated profile or product pages. This presence also has a positive effect on our SEO and search engine performance, which is even noticeable for our Level 1 members.

Our Level 2 members get even more out of their membership here, while also benefiting from a number of additional services. These include our collaboration with Swiss IT Magazine, discounts for various events, currency exchange services, and postings on ictjobs.ch. Not to mention those new dedicated Swiss alternatives pages, and other ideas on the horizon, of course! A full list of benefits is provided here:
